Our Story

Ken Wilson Meats is a family-owned and operated New Zealand company with deep roots in Wellington.

Our journey began with  Ken Wilson – a dedicated meat trader whose passion for quality and service laid the foundation for who we are today. In 1989, Ken Wilson sold his business to Rod and Scot Preston, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our history. Rod Preston, a name synonymous with Wellington’s butchering tradition, has been instrumental in shaping our company into a leading force in the meat industry.

Our Natural Farm brand was created almost 20 years ago and is the mark of supreme quality. Natural Farm works with farmers to select the highest quality Angus from across central New Zealand, which is then graded and processed to meet our stringent quality requirements. This ensures only the best Angus beef makes it to your plate.

Where our meat comes from

New Zealand pasture-fed and naturally raised meat starts on the humble New Zealand farm.

The majority of our livestock originates from the fertile and lush pastures of Wairarapa, Manawatu, Rangitikei,  the rolling hills of southern Hawke’s Bay and the South Island to provide you with high-quality cuts of meat all year round.

We work closely with our farmers to continue New Zealand’s renowned history of excellent farming practices, quality livestock, and sustainable environments.

Where our meat is processed

Our meat is processed at the Taylor Preston’s modern export meat processing plant in Wellington, New Zealand.

The multi species plant processes around 1,500,000 head of sheep, lambs, goats, calves and beef annually. It is one of the largest 100% NZ owned privately held meat processor. Taylor Preston is halal certified and fully EU and USDA licensed for the export of sheep, lambs, goats, calves and beef.

Started by the Taylor, Preston and Grace families.

The Taylor and Grace families have been farming in NZ for around 150 years and the Prestons have been butchers for over 120 years in the Wellington region.

Our carefully handled animals are healthier and record a lower pH measure, which guarantees a better flavour, juiciness , and tenderness.

Our products are Halal certified and licensed fully EU and USDA certified to the highest requirements.

We use the Meat New Zealand standard grading system to ensure familiarity for our producers, buyers and sellers.
