Our Story

New Zealand Family owned and Operated

Ken Wilson Meats is a family owned and operated New Zealand Company based in Wellington.  It is part of the Preston Corp Group, and is closely associated with Taylor PrestonsPreston’s Master Butchers and KAM Transport.

 
Our founder Ken Wilson was a meat trader based in Wellington. In 1989, he sold his business to Rod and Scot Preston. Rod now owns the business and has been part of a retail butchering tradition in Wellington stretching back over 100 years. He is also the ‘Preston’ part of Taylor Preston, a large export-focused meat works based in Wellington where our meat is processed.
 

Grass-fed, locally sourced meat

We support the New Zealand faming industry by using only the best livestock from the fertile and lush pastures of the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Rangitikei and southern Hawke’s Bay.

We also have strong supplier relationships also exist in the South Island to provide year round supply of livestock.

Ken Wilson Meats is the licensee of the Natural Farm brand in New Zealand.

Natural Farm begins in the lush green pastures of New Zealand’s countryside, where animals are given free range to graze and grow at their own pace. Our Customers

KWM ‘s primary clients are butchers, supermarkets, brokers, and manufacturers. Based in Wellington, we have clients located all around the country. In fact, Wellington is a very good transport hub, and product can generally be delivered to most North Island destinations  overnight.
 
Under the Preston ownership KWM has grown to be a significant force in the meat trade. We handle around 5,000 tonnes of meat per year. This  includes:
KWM also has extensive contacts in the wider broker community and can therefore generally source all your meat requirements. All our product is cold boned at Taylor Preston under very strict guidelines and export regulations.
